Default Intermittent Vtec

i have a 96 ex and ever sence ive owned the car the vtec only works some time. sometimes it cracks hella hard and sometimes not at all i don't have any cels

:werd: on the oil level. You may be low and don't have enough pressure.

If the oil level is fine, first places I'd look is the wiring at the VTEC Solenoid and the temp. sending unit for the ECU - looks just like a thermoswitch (from the outside) but is located under the distributor, in front of the temp. gauge sending unit.
