Default At a stop, the rev meter and car will rumble.

Hey all,

Problem:
When I shift to R/D4/D3/2/1, with brakes down, the rev meter and car will rumble, beetween 0-1000 RPMS.

No Problems:
When driving or reversing; car or rev meter will not rumble.
When I shift to P/N with brakes down; car or rev meter will not rumble.

1994 Honda Civic EX Sedan 4D 4-Cyl. 1.6L 16V VTEC Automatic Mileage: 144,000

Any clue?

Thank You,
PP

Not sure what it means for the rev meter (tachometer) to rumble, but the car "rumbling" isn't too abnormal, especially on an automatic while it's in gear. It's normal for you to feel the engine through the car more when in D, etc. than in Neutral or Park.
An excessive amount of vibration at idle normally means some of the motor mounts need changed. The rubber inserts can be broken and over time the rubber hardens, so even if they aren't torn/broken they transmit more vibration.

Oh I see, yeaha like I can see the tachometer go down to like 100 rpm for half a second, then jump back to like 800 rpm, then go up and down like in a rumbling motion. Looks like it's going to turn off but it doesn't. This is when I'm parking or leaving or waiting for a red light. It will feel like brooooom broobooboobom broooooooom. lol From smooth to rumble to smooth.

I'll probably post a video to hear and see.

But hey if it's the motor mounts then I won't be afraid to give it a try.

Thanks for the input, any more welcomed,
PP

your motor mounts might be shot. mine are and my motor shakes like a mother. next time you drive it and you are at a light, turn your a/c or heater on and see if it goes up at all.

Hey thanks again, looks like 2 votes on the same idea is a win lol.

I'm too lazy to replace them around this time but I'm guessing motor mounts can wait i think, its not a need like replacing a battery i think lol.

Thank you all for responding. You guys save me $14,313,012 bucks,
