Default relocating my O2?

ok here i got this question for you or anyone that can answer it for me. emissions is coming up for me soon and i need to extend the 5 five wire O2 sensor to under the car, now do i use the same wire gauge or a thicker wire gauge for extend the wires?? because i have a bad cat. so my cousin gave me his Ebay header to use so i can put a high low cat or a OEM cat. So that way i dont have to buy that Y5 $500 cat. Also will it effect the O2?

I have the D16Y5 so it has a five wire O2 after the cat.

extend the wiring harness with the same gauge wire. DO NOT cut the wires that are from the o2 sensor to the plug. Extended the wiring harness, and solder all connections. Should be good to go.

just go to the store and find one that is equal or slightly larger. It's no big deal if it is a bit bigger, you just don't wanna go smaller.

extending the wires as suggested will work fine.
