My Hiper filter made that sound. It was annoying so I replaced it with stock airbox

Just go to PepBoys and pick up one of their APC filters. I'm sure that they QC'd it to make sure that they produce the noise... h:

Yea, the whistling was annoying. I think most open air filters made of foam (not the paper type) make that noise. Might be wrong.

It also whistled a lot when I ran the stock intake tube w/ top part of the stock box and the filter on the end (i.e. no resonator and no bottom part of the box)

My ICEMAN (K&N filter) makes whistling/sucking sound too :-) even when at idle .. I think they all should, unless the filter is dirty/mashed in.
