VSS, vehicle speed sensor, can it be repaired?
Some time ago, my VSS went out on my ex manual tranny and i believe i got a replacement off ebay or something, my speedometer was going crazy etc..
Now its doing it again. Briefly it works fine, then it doesnt. Getting a replacement from Oreilly is about 90$. Honda, probly a lot more.
Can you overhaul one of these things or is replacement the only option? I might hit up my local import junk yard, or ebay again otherwise.
Since i installed some energy suspension motor mount inserts, it seems like im experiencing issues. First my crankshaft pulley came loose, which i super torqued back on, maybe i didnt torque it enough the last time i had removed it, and now my VSS is gone bad, both within a week of the Insert installation.
Im assuming the increased vibrations might have something to do with my issue but it could just be coinsidence?
(already searched and yes there's tons of VSS threads, but didnt read one about rebuilding it etc)

I had VSS issues twice already. It seems as though the issue has been caused my moisture getting into the sensor in my case. It dried up and went back to normal within a week. I would suggest you to take it out and clean the contacts before replacing anything.
Also i got a layer of oil or fluid ontop of my tranny where the VSS is mounted...
I'll try removing it and cleaning the connector with some electrical cleaner and blow it out wit my compressor..
Thanks for the advice.
