i try to avoid personal sellers unless they have a good rating and most of thier feedbacks are good. i usually only deal w/ the companies. its safer.

I bought a set of tires on time that where only used 1K miles. The seller said he sold the rims to someone, and needed to sell all the tires. He didn't mention he hit something , and it went all the way through the sidewall. He put a f-ing bicycle tube patch on it! Pissed me off. I got his address, but he had just moved.

My first ebay experience was bad...some guy sent me busted headlights, that i couldnt use for ****. I tried contacting him like 10 times, and he never replied. I left bad feedback, but there was really nothing i could do. I have since made over ten purchases from companies off ebay, and have had better experiences. I am currently waiting for springs and a wire loom kit, and have found that the best thing to do is keep incontact with the seller.
