my guess would be the clutch... or get the clutch adjusted. perhaps the clutch line that is loose.

str8edgexx 11-21-2002 05:25 PM

I doubt its a totally burnt clutch, just because the car only has 70k on it, and I know how long Honda clutches last.....maybe it just needs to be adjusted like you said.

Hydraulic clutches are self-adjusting for wear.

My guess is a dying clutch. Either your friction disc is worn below the service limit, or there's something wrong with the pressure plate. Exacly how high do you need to rev it in order for it to engage? If you're comfortable with dropping trannies and swapping clutches, an OEM clutch kit is only about $100 and includes a new p/p, disc, pilot bearing, and release bearing.

if you're on a flat surface, you've got to rev it up to maybe 3k-4k...on a hill, maybe 5 or 6k.

i agree with inspyral

Someone else told me that it might be the pressure plate as well...How hard is that to fix?

You need to pull the tranny, and while you're at it, you should replace the disc, pilot bearing, and release bearing as well.
