aem cold air intake

Default aem cold air intake

hi, i have a 98 civic ex coupe, i just installed an aem CAI with the bypass valve, for some reason, the pipe that goes down the hole is touching the edge of the hole. does anyone why? is it suppose to be like this or did i installed incorrectly?

Mine did that ('95)... I just put some rubber on the pipe so it wouldn't rub through.

not much you can do.

i dont have an aem and mine does the same thing. Obviously, if you pay 200+ dollars for it, you want it looking good, so id put electrical tape or something around the hole, and secure the cai.

YOu can also cut the whole a little bigger too.. or file it down or something. Just a couple of ideas.

try to adjust it at the rubber ring thinys. if you let it rub, the vibration from the engine will make a groove in them....its not pretty.

can i still use it if it makes a groove like this?

i tried to readjusted, but there is so little room, anywhere i placed hits something. so what else can i do, should i just leave it?

wrap it with tape. the groove wont mess anything up until it turns into a whole. i wonder how that would sound.
