Default Question on Lowering Springs

Hello all, looking for some insight on my 97' Coupe.

I want to lower it just a bit, but not sure on which spring size to get.

The rear of the car sags just a bit, due to the sub box, amps, and secondary battery back there.

I mainly just want to bring the front down a little, to "fill" the wheel well a little bit better.

I've seen the 3/4" drop, 1.5" and 2.75" drop. I don't want a slammed Civic, but just a little bit lowered.

Also, when I get lowering springs, what else do I need? Do I need new struts and stuff, or are the springs all I need?

btw just do some searching about lowering springs in the forum...there is plenty of threads and concerns about your question!!!

From my understanding a 2" drop is the max you can drop it so the tires wont rub...I still havent hear of 2.75" drop!!!

I currently have a 1.5" drop all around and it is a very noticeable difference in comparison with the stock height!!

the right and cheaper way to do it. is cutting the springs. measure e'm and cut all the same. after you do this you don't have to buy new struts.and you can reuse the old ones if they're not leaking.i did this in my 94 civic and it's running like champ.

The RIGHT way to do it if you want yuur car even all around due to your subs and battery are coilovers. That way you can lower the front a little and make it look right instead of the wrong way like cutting your springs (loser way and dangerous too).

Thanks. I have about 300 lbs in the back, and the car just sags. I bought new struts all around, and it only helped a little. Coil overs will most likely be my best bet, but I don't have the cash for them right now.

How much does one coil lower the car when cutting the stock springs?

Holy crap, that's two adult men... You're probably killing your gas mileage with that stereo too. Whatever lowering springs you go with, you're still going to end up with a sagging ass, since none of the springs out there were designed to cart around that much weight in the trunk. You could just get a front set of springs to even out the look of the car, but the handling would go to hell. I think coilovers are really the only way to go... or just be a normal person with a 10 lb stereo.

And x3 on cutting springs. Dumb ass idea.
