Default Tranny Grinds???

Before anyone say do a search I already have but would like to get some opinions.

Heres the story. I have a 99 Civic CX. I had a little grind when the clutch was depressed. I thought it was the throw out bearing. So I decided to change it out along with a new clutch, flywheel and all the other good stuff (Axels ect). The parts are Exedy OEM Clutch Kit and a new flywheel. After I did it The noise was still there and actually got louder. I dont know wheather or not to get a new tranny or get mine rebuilt. I know that the trannys are cheap but I dont want to do this again. This is my commuter and I really dont care about performance. Now here is my delima!!! Is it worth while to have my tranny rebuilt or "TRUST" (i use that word lightly) a shop with a used tranny, or depending on how much things get up to forget about the commuter and find a good B-series or K-Series. I know where to get the K or B-series but for some reason cannot find a D series tranny to save my life.

Please some input would be greatly appreciated!!!

If you know a shop that is repituble in Sacramento, CA that has some D-series tranny's hit me up!

I cant tell you about respectable shops in Cali since I live in Jersey!!

But my 2 cents is that at least if you get a rebuilt tranny, at least you have a piece of mind with the warranty that a rebuilt comes with, while used ones dont bring any warranty since they are used!!

My brother's tranny went on his 97 Prelude...he got 75k miles/2 years warranty on it...a used one...would have been a lot cheaper...but a least with the rebuilt one he has a piece of mind for a couple of years!!

It sounds like your main shaft bearing. I did the same thing you did by changing the clutch and t/o bearing, only to find the noise was still there. 40.00 for a MSB and your good. They're known to go out in these transmissions. If your thinking about doing it yourself, then check out this link. Hope this helps. http://www.hondacivicforum.com/m_377138/tm.htm

you can get it rebuilt and get a warranty but its expensive. if you can do the labor yourself, go get a used trans.

Yea just got a quote from AMMCO and they want 1350 to rebuild a D-Series Tranny. I will have to get a used one.

I am pretty sure I have thrown away about 5 D series manual transmissions. If you look around you should be able to find a couple for seriously under 100 bucks.
