Default shifter question

i bought my car used and was told that the stock shifter was replaced with a "short shifter" when he bought it from dealer, as like a extra option... i dont know if this is true because there are other things about my car that makes it seem like he modded it before he put it all back to stock and sold it... anyway...

when i drive and when the car is in gear usually 3rd, 4th, and 5th gear it rattles... the sound is like a buzzing or rattling noise. i was wondering what causes this or what is the problem. also can i fix it myself? thanks

also how much do you think it would cost to get a dent out of the trunk right above the taillight about the size of a softball.

thanks again

The shifter rattle is a common problem. Do a search for it. You can put bushings on the outsides of the shifter and, if it does have a short shifter, you should get new urithane shift bushings. There's a thread going right now about that.

As for the dent, go to a local body shop and get an estimate.
