Default running with the oem intake w/o the silencer?

would runnin my oem ex intake system w/o the silencer put me at risk of sucking water into my engine?

No; the inlet would be in the engine bay. You'd need a LOT of water before it became an issue.

Believe me I have a cold air intake and drove through a puddle the size of a pond the engine seized for about 4 min but the water evaporated and it was fine

One out of a million.

The stock box sans the resonator would be fine.
