if you buy these reposession houses, or handyman's dream theyll be like 40k, need a lot of serious work, but sometimes the downpayments on those are like 2% of the final cost.

Man, I've have to be in the sticks before anything in this state would be that cheap! I think the lowest I've seen an ok house with a single garage for was 120 near me!

80k will get you a 2bedroom, 950-1100 sq ft in an older neighborhood in many places in racine.
there was a really nasty home for 40k not so long ago, i could have done 20k in work and dropped it back in the market for 80-100 cuz it was in a great area.
100k will get you 2-3 bedrooms in a decent neighborhood.
i think our house was appraised at like 160 or maybe close to 200 with the garage, and we live in a desirable, albeit somewhat sketchy neigborhood.

we built that house for 30k and it was appraised at 70-80 before the second story.
my sincere apologies for the hijack.
p.s. -- i have no degree, 3 years of school, i do tech support for 30k, its quite respectable here, but its shat everywhere else.

That same exact house where where I live (Rockland/Westchester) would go for $375k-$550k depending on the town.....I need to move where you live.

i got about 3/4 acre too.
land right now is like 60k for a decent chunk, and then add to that a 100k for building a house, new housing isnt very cheap...but, hey, i should be able to have a nice roof over our heads in the next year or two.
wiskin aint that bad, its just colder then a witches tit right now
I know people out there probably don't make quite as much as they do here....but it can't be that much less. You gotta make huge money here to live even comfortably. Sounds like $40k-$50k would get you by nicely out there. I can deal with cold

soem girls dont realize theyre trying to buy your love, and taht they dont need to.
i think it would be meaningful to ask her to start a savings account with you for your house though, not only would you get something, but she would know what she meant to you.
