What to do with my 94 Civic
I have been wondering for quite some time now what to do with my civic, its a 1994 Civic DX with manual transmission, the car is currently stock except for some huge exhaust and coilovers that my friend put on it before I purchased it.
The engine currently has 200k on it and is starting to get very sluggish so im not sure how much longer it will last. Also on the transmission one of the 2 holes for the slave cylinder is stripped so I think this is causing my clutch pedal to be very very soft because the slave moves when you press the pedal. Now I have been trying to decide what to do because I am on a very limited budget as I am about to have a kid so no extreme builds or anything like that. The car is one of my 2 daily driven cars so if i had to the car could be down for a while. The car has a ton of rust in the rear wheel wells so i dont know if i should keep this one or try to find a different civic that is in better condition. Your opinions would be appreciated if you suggest something I would also appreciate if you could give me an estimate of how much it would cost (not including labor obviously because that varies). If there is anything else you need to know ask and ill try to answer

If the rust is terminal, it sounds like the car is doomed.
I'd donate it and claim the write-off.

200k on a civic engine is not big deal if it has been taken care of (and sometimes even if it hasn't been taken care of). First thing is to do is get that slave cylinder bolt fixed. Next would be a compression check and/or a leak test to find out how your internal engine is doing. Once you've done those then depending on the results, you go on.
As for the rust, it depends on where you live. I'm in Arizona so rust can be slowed here and the car can live a long time, however if you are in a snowy area or close to the ocean that may be a different case.

I haven't owned the car for that long so I have put very few miles on it, however the previous owner was a friend of mine and regrettably he doesn't take very good care of his cars. The slave cylinder bolt cant be fixed that easily because it is the hole in the tranny that is stripped not the bolt itself. Second the rust probably is terminal and I live in minnesota, rust capitol of the world
