Default Looking at 7th Gen Civics

I'm considering getting a 7th generation Civic and dumping my current car (a Mazda Protege). I have found several used Civic Si models in the local area, however I'm concerned about how these cars are over the long haul. The same goes for the Civic EX sedan models, but I think that they will be as good as or even better than the Si models.

Can any owners on here share their ownership experiences? What problem spots have you encountered? How has your fuel economy been? Does it require premium and does it run like crap if you don't give it premium?

Si needs premium, none of the others do. If you get an Si, even if it runs alright on 87 or whatever, as the computer should compensate to prevent damage, you'll be losing power and mpg so it's not worth it.

edit: Just realized I was thinking 8th gen h: I'm not so sure that gen Si needed premium... did the base RSX need it? edit2: Nope, I didn't think the "base" K series needed premium, but wasn't sure.

From a handling standpoint, the 7th gen sucks because Honda removed the double wishbone on the front. I'd look into a newer 6th gen like a '99 or '00. I recently bought a 6th gen and am happy with it (not an Si).
