snow tires
i need snow tires for my civic and i dont know which ones to get. i want to be able to get around wherever i want to go this winter and not have a lot of trouble. i dont want to spend a ton of moeny either. any ideas?
Go to Farm and Fleet or Fleet Farm if you are in the midwest, or a local farm store. I see your sig says you are from Jamesville? I live near a Janesville, is it just a misspelling?
Anyway, look for a tire that you can run your pinky all the way across the tread(from side to side) with out lifting it out of the groove. I've got Spectrum Starfires from Farm and Fleet that I use and they work very well. They are an all season radial that have a very agressive tread on them. They were about $60 a piece for 185/65/14. Or go to www.tirerack.com. They have some Firestone WinterFire tires for $51 each. Good luck.
Also, just a suggestion, go to a local junkyard and pick up an extra set of rims for your car for winter. That way you don't have to worry about mount and balance every fall and spring, you can just swap wheels. This only works if you have stock rims obviously.
