Default any skidpads in SoCal?

hey, i was thinkiing about finding out the lateral acceleration of my civic as a "project" for my physics class.

are there any skid pads in socal preferably near torrance? and what would i need to be allowed to run in circles interms of safety gear, and wat not?

Streets of Willow has one, but they're probably at least a good 2 hours from you.

Skidpads are generally big, with a diameter of 200 or 300ft.

Come to think of it, see if the CHP will let you use the San Bernardino EVOC facility. I'm pretty sure they have skidpads. Also, the San Diego Police Deparment sets up an autocross course to teach vehicle dynamics. They sometimes have a small (100ft diameter I think) skidpad. It's in the parking lot of Miramar Community College in San Diego.
