Powder Coating: first try
I'd been kicking around the idea of powder coating for over a year. The problem was I just want to do it for fun for myself so I didn't want to spend much. Well recently I had the opportunity to get an electric stove for free from a friend. So I made a little trip to Harbor Freight and bought a cheap powder coating kit. I picked up some powder local at pendry (www.pendrypowdercoatings.com). Here is what I ended up with on my first try.

I tried for a 2 tone. But I think I forgot to clean around the "H" so it bubbled up and didn't adhere well.

The other problem I had was the instructions said working pressure of 10-30psi. Basically at 20psi it comes out like a fire hose. I found that it really worked best around 6psi. As a result of my tinkering I didn't get the best coverage in spots.

This was a spare valve cover I had laying around and decided to practice on. I plan on doing the one on my car in flat black with a red "H". All in all I'm relatively pleased. I figured out how to get everything to work pretty good and I think I can do a good job on the next one.

Ehh not to bad.. definatly need to get control of your flow & make sure to get even coverage. The item HAS to be media blasted to get a strong coating. Also, Make sure your electrode is not caked up when spraying.
Soon your resultz will look like mine!
