1994 Civic HB 1.5 vtec bogs out at low rpm's HELP PLEASE???
I just bought a 94 civic hb with 108k and I have a problem it almost feels like it is misfiring or bogging out but this only happens at low rpms. I replaced the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil I also cleaned the throttle body out. What could this be is there a throttle posotion sensor because it feels like it only happens light throttle at low rpms. It almost feels like I am running out of gas but the tank is full. Any suggestions would be great.
could be related to the fuel pump or fuel filter I suppose, but could also be spark related - I've heard an ignitor/ignition module that's going out can cause misfiring before totally crapping out, or maybe your ignition timing is just way off :dunno:
If it pulls fine at high rpms, no missing or cutting-out, than I doubt it's fuel related, and you've already covered the relatively cheap stuff on the spark side.
Is it like that at idle or only when you're trying to accelerate from a stop/slow speed?

The only way to describe it is it feels like it is running out of gas. I am going to try the fuel filter but I doubt that's it, if you have the car in neutral and rev it the response is perfect. First and second are fine but the minute I stop accelerating and cruise into third bam hits a wall. Sorry my description is so bad. Alternator 02 sensor maybe????

No CELs?
How is it at WOT? If it runs fine w/ your foot to the floor I think(keeping in mind I'm not a mechanic) you can rule out fuel. An O2 sensor makes some sense, but I wouldn't expect it to have trouble just maintaining speed simply b/c it's running a bit lean or rich.
Is your alternator making any noise, sort of like a hair dryer?
If you know someone with a timing light, checking and adjusting the ignition timing isn't too hard. I'm necessarily saying it's off, but worth a check.
Apparently some people have just adjusted their distributor a cm or two, re-tightened the bolts, and taken a test drive to see if they noticed a difference... not sure how bad of an idea that might be, never done it myself.

I had it at the stealership today and the diagnosed it, they are saying I need a new distributor, ignitor, and coil. I am having a new distributor put in tomorrow morning I will let you all know what happens. Thank you all for your help and suggestions.
I paid $800 for the car but now it looks like I'll have another $800 in to it. Here is what she looks like, definitely needs a little tlc. It's a 5 speed with 108k and the other side is much worse it has a new fender due to an accident. I'll post pics when I get her back.

Luckily I have this to drive but the PA winters are a bit harsh sometimes, and I get too many tickets...lol
