Well I finally pulled my old starter, had it tested at 2 diff places, went to pep boys and got a new one. When I put it in and reconnected the neg batt cable something strange happened, it became magnetically charged! I mean I could not even pull it off( btw it was not even snug over the terminal, just touching the top of it ) & within seconds I heard snap, crackle pop. Then it smelled like a blown amp. When i went to turn the key guess what? The new starter was dead. After that the cable was not sticking to the terminal. This is a short right? Any idea what else it could be or whats shorting it out? I could handle the starter but Im guessing Ill have to bring it to a mech this time. Also he may have to install the starter cause Id hate to push start it to get it there, he tells me its all good, then install it my self & it happens again. Any advice/input much appreciated bros...
