Honda MTF
...is delicious. [I'm posting this here b/c I happen to drive a '92 civic]
I didn't expect such a difference, it's almost as if someone replaced my 2nd gear synchro.
I waited over a week to report my impressive results, to see if things changed, but so far I'm still very pleased.
The "feel" of each gear is much better than before, you don't just assume that it's in a gear, you know it is.
In very cold weather, it was difficult to go from 1st to 2nd w/ regular motor oil, easy but with a grind with synthetic, and easy with no grind with Honda MTF.
As I alluded to above, the most noticeable difference would have to be 2nd gear. Even when fully warmed up, downshifting into 2nd was always a chore, sometimes more than others, ever since I first got the car.
Changing the trans. fluid to the recommended viscosity of dino oil made it easier to shift from 1st to 2nd, at least when relatively warm, and synthetic 10w30 made things a bit better when it was really cold out, but it was always a pain going down into 2nd and sometimes into 1st.
After the switch to Honda MTF, my very first downshift into 2nd (the car was warmed up though by that point) was incredibly easy, like it should be, and going into 1st is not only much more assuring as you can feel that it's actually in the gear, but has never been difficult.
This is the reformulated stuff I'm referring to, I can't speak from experience with the previous Honda MTF. It is possible (but I doubt it) that the older formulation might be what was in the trans. when I first got the car, and drove with for a day or two, but I can't say for sure.
It's noticeably thinner at room temp. than even 5w30 motor oil, which is a big part of the difference, but I'm still pleasantly surprised by the results

I highly doubt that Honda would be supplying "better" transmission fluid to the Acura models than to the Honda models...
You might think its better cause you spent more, but you will spend more everytime if u buy Acura parts...
GSR Headgasket - $120
B16A Headgasket - $60
They are same exact part, but you pay twice as much cause its an Acura.
Actually, since there is no Acura brand in Japan, do they use "Acura" transmission fluid? LOL Don't think so...
