Default b18a swap-> eg

i got a b18a obd-0 full motor from a friend of mine and its got a cable trans. i bought a hydro ls trans to go on it and was wondering a couple lil things:

1. clutch/flywheel situation? will the cable ones work?
2. i heard something about swapping the intake manifold/tb? for the tps sensor and something else? any word on that?

i'll add more questions as they come, if anyone can answer some of these taht would be sweet

All the parts are identical. Most recommend that you either use all of one set of or all of the other. I’ve personally pieced a couple clutches together that worked great. But there are a few rules. One, always resurface the flywheel and clean it with rubbing alcohol before installation. Use some sort of thread lock on the flywheel bolts. Always get a brand new throw out bearing. As for the disc, inspect both, use the one with the most material (obviously) and inspect the springs for damage or anything weird, but don’t use cleaners on the disc at all. Wipe it down with multiple rages if you have to, but NO solvents of any kind. As for the pressure plate make sure its dust free then wipe down its surface with rubbing alcohol. Give it about a hundred miles before you start dropping the clutch and you should be fine.

As for the intake and TB everyone needs to know the ECU your going to run. There are a few ways to do this but its a question of the parts you have because i assume that money (like most people i know) is an issue.

1. You need the clutch/flywheel that go to the hydro tranny, the cable clutch/throwout won't work with the hydrualic trans.

2. I would switch to the obd-1 intake manfiold because it gets rid of a shit ton of vaccum dashpots that aren't needed on an obd-1 setup. You also can than run your obd-1 engine harness on the obd-1 throttle body/tps/map/etc. It also has provisions for the proper IAC and FITV connections and gets rid of an odd setup on the obd0 setup. It also has a touch different plenum length. You will also need an obd-1 thermostat housing as the obd0 doesn't have provisions for a thermoswitch that activates your cooling fans. You can re-use the sensor from the d series but need the obd-1 B series thermostat housing.

3. Get the proper obd-1 b18b ecu, they are a dime a dozen

4. obd-1 exhaust manifold. The obd-0 manifolds are different than the obd0 manifolds and run a different o2 sensor. These too can be had for dirt. Find yourself a cheap used obd1 o2 sensor as well (can be stolen from your D series)

if you have any more specific questions shoot me a pm

as stated above, your going to want to run the following.

1. Obd-1 intake mani
2. obd-1 dizzy
3. your existing obd-1 engine harness off the stock motor
4. your chiped ecu (so you don't have to do things twice & u'll be able to pull a little more power if it's tuned properly)
5. if you don't feel like runnin the o2, plug the whole & shut it off on your "chipped ecu".

* If that cable trans is in good shape i'll take it off your hands.. btw, i think i have an extra obd-1 b-series intake mani layin around the garage.
