Default Changing Si Rims?

I'm going to be needing some new tires soon so I figured this would be a good time to swap on something besides the stock steelies. I've thought about putting Si rims on but I also really want to get some black rims so that I can black out everything on the car. I recently found a company on ebay that is selling reproduction Si rims, a 15x7 4x100mm rim, basically exactly like the Si rim just not made by honda. So I was thinking about picking up a set, stripping the clear coat and having them powder coated black. I think they would turn out to be exactly what I'm looking for and wont cost me a whole hell of a lot. I'm curious what other peoples thoughts on this idea are though. So if you've got an opinion post up!

You could find a used pair for SI's for less than the replicas on ebay. If I remember, the replicas on ebay are like $99 + shipping for one rim.

That is a ripoff. I'd much rather buy the used real-deal SI wheels for less money. Especially if you are going to strip them and powder coat them anyway.

If you aren't already, get ready to be a cop magnet. Speaking from exp.

Go gunmetal.

Why do you say that? Do they think that you're trying to hide the car from them or something? That being said, most of the time when I'm driving my civic I'm also wearing my "anti ticket" shirt. Its gotten me out of a three ticket situation before.... I have faith in it.

I think for the most part, police have been trained to look for certain criteria that would fit an "illegal import tuner" one being is looking out for cars that have blackd out wheels.

Funny that somebody mentioned going gunmetal as I've been running on gunmetal wheels for the longest time and have not been harassed by police. When I had to switch to my bronze (but they look black from far away) GSR's, I've been pulled over 3 times. All supposedly for different reasons (plate doesn't come up in their system, loud exhaust, etc).

IMO I'd just get the real deal Si wheels, install some nice 205-50-15 tires & call it a day. Or if you really want all black wheels I'd go 16's.
