Im going to turbo my d16 out of my 93 EX. The kit im using is the Greddy bolt on and im also pickin up a BOV, intercooler, TT, and boost controller. My engine only has 103K miles and still runs strong. What im wondering is about how much HP will it add, how dependable will it be, and do you think it will be able to hang with certain cars and do alright at the track???? any info on this at all would be helpful. thanks

Its really all in how the car is tuned, you cant just slap it on and have 200 hp. But likely just slapped on around 160 give or take.

138 whp and 13x ft/lbs of torque for a stock kit.

damn... that sucks. get a turbo and only have it add a smidge of power. a damn shame. Just buy a b16 and get that power eazy fo sheezy.

It'll have the about the same hp as a B16 but with more torque.

The other night ... I raced an SI. 1st, 2nd gear we were even. 3rd gear, he pulled on me NASTY! No stock/lightly modded SI can touch me and then I heard it, BOV.

He followed us to the *ahem* illegals and his car was idling weird. I knew he had something up his sleeve.

I asked him, "Tell me what you got and I'll tell you what I got."

He said, "You first."

"Single cam turbo."

He follows, "B16 plus super."

I asked, "Jackson?"

He shakes his head and says, "Vortech."

I smiled and said, "Nice."

I usually don't post race stories but this $hit was fun. We had a threesome :fawk: with a Talon Tsi. The SI killed us both once he hit third (again).

D16 turbo is nice and you spend little money. I run 6psi with 10psi spikes on Apexi kit, no intercooler, ghetto tuning, no times.

EDIT: When I first put on the kit, I was leaking oil and at only 4psi. Another guy in our crew has the new SE-R Spec V. From a highway punch, we were basically side by side with him having a nose on me, but no one was pulling.

Yeah, a LOT more torque. B16 hp and 15 ft/lbs more torque than my B18C!

and that's only 5.5-6 pounds of boost. You can crank a stock SOHC up to 10 at the track on good tuning and 7-8 on the street. 10 pounds should be pushing 200 whp.

And what if he changes the internals, what kind of boost could be run then?

*edit* What about clutch & flywheel? Do they need to be upgraded to for the turbo?
