pissin me off
alright I searched and found nothing specific to my problem so here it goes
I am driving down the road at about 3k rpm's....and all of a sudden my speedometer moves up and down then completely stops and the car starts sputtering....I let off the gas...and its alright for a few seconds then goes right back to sputtering again.......let the car sit...the next day it will drive fine...it just comes out of the blue sometimes.....what in the world could be the problem?.......what gets me is the speedometer/sputtering combo...wtf?
thanks

Check your battery cables, at both ends. malke sure they are clean and tight. Also check the valve cover to support ground strap and the one on the lower front right frame rail.
Both of my battery cables were shot, but internally. I kept getting those symptoms and the negative cable fixed mine. Then a few months later the car wouldn't start or get any electronics on the cluster, the positive cable fixed that.

so you had a speedometer goin crazy and a motor that was sputtering and a battery cable fixed it?
well the problem may lie inside the dizzy it could be ur igniter sending the wrong signal making the car sputter this is a good way to check when this happens acc hard and get into high rpms if the sputtering backs off then ur looking at an igniter happened to me its a pain diaging that shit

First thing to do with the speedo would be to check the plug going to the speed sensor on the tranny. If it's clean and tight, then check the ground point right in that area. I know in my case, cleaning up the grounds and installing new cables fixed mine.
Cleaning the grounds is free and can solve a lot of issues with drivability and funky electronics.
