Default "knocking" noise from front end??

hi guys, fabs here..well still got the 94 civic. For the past little while (about 3 months), i've been getting this knocking sound coming from the front end of the car. at first it was from bumps, now it's from bumps and when the car is on a curve or turning. i thought at first it was the shocks, but now i'm not sure if it's more than that? let me know whatcha think

this would be a cv boot or an wheel bearing. To check the wheel bearing jack up the car and pull in and out on the wheel from top to bottom and right to left if the wheel moves then it is the wheel bearing. Also the car might feel a little unsteady in fast turns. To check the cv joint roll down your window in a parking lot and see if it only does it in turns. A cv joint will make a clicking sound when you turn and should stop when the car is going stright again. Try both of these and if u still can't figure it out I would take it to a shop

definitely the CV. I've had this problem since I bought my car, I'm just too broke to get it fixed at the moment. My step-dad can get parts at employee cost from Honda, but still, 190 per side for brand new Honda CV boots and all that jazz. ouch. You may be tempted by remanufactured ones, but I've seen those things break after about 3-6 months, so I wouldn't recommend it. Also, you don't have to worry about it going completely out to the point where you can't drive your car. My step-dad has only seen 2 go out in his entire time working for Honda and both those times it was mainly driver error or another part's fault. I've had mine like that for a good 5 months and all it is is annoying.

I'm calling the ball joints or loose suspension... Half shafts are about 80 a piece if you get remanufactured ones. I've never broken one... Well, after 4 years of HEAVY abuse maybe, but that's it for me...

get new axles

You should be able to get some for about $150 new from a parts store. It's the CV joints, I have the same problem in my 90 integra. It needs new CV joints but it's much easier to get new axles. Only takes about an hour to install new ones, unless you can't get the axle nut off.

I don't know if your cars have the same setup as the 4th gen civics but my noise was just like that and it was the upper control arm.

The same thing happened to my 94 hatch, it turned out that the brake line had come upbolted from the shock and was just nailing the undercarriage of the car.
