does anyone know what causes shifter to unstabilize and wobbles left and right?

I'm experiencing this in my civic, its a second gen..

 

I had it happen in my 6th gen, it was a worn out bushing on the bottom of my shifter. Replaced it and it was tight like new.

Yup replaced mine too with an Energy Suspension polyurethane bushing. Fixes every single time.

 

Do you mean, ur shifter has lots of FREE play? Cause mine has it. I think the previous guy had a short shifter installed, and it has alot of play. How can i get that fixed?

 

When I installed the ES front and rear bushing, that didn't fix it. It was the bolt, nut, sleeve orings and little plastic hats at the bottom of the lever. All purchased through Majestic for about $30?? I even bought a spare set and didn't need them after about 75,000 miles. Really tightens up the lever!

 

I have the same problem...could I get all those at a local auto parts store?? If so what kind of kit is tha called?? What would I tell them?? And where exactly is all that stuff located??

 

I bought mine from hondaautomotiveparts.com (Majestic Honda). Or you could go to your local dealer, but you will pay alittle more.

If you go on Majestic's site they will show you the diagram, part numbers, list price and their price. I'm talking about the connection between the bottom of the lever and the shift rod.

 

What's it called at Majestic??
