Default CAI for 97 ?...

OK dont flame me...

1.) I have never raced my car
2.) I dont plan on racing my car
3.) I dont have :ghey: ass stickers on my car
4.) I dont plan on getting :ghey: ass stickers on my car

...all that aside, I got a question...

I want to get a CAI for my 97 civic, but is it worth it if my car is an auto? I know I will only get about +/-7hp out of it but I just want that extra kick like when the A/C is off. Is it worth it? Which brand do you guys recommend? Easy install? Change filter how often?

Let me know...

umm.. I dunno if it's totally worth the money to get a high end one, a generic CAI would work fine, and yes it's worth it to put it on, it does give ya a lil kick in the pants, nothing exciting tho, but it's there. Anyways, the install is nothing, have a friend available cuz it's alot easier with 2 sets of hands. I'd say get a generic pipe from ebay, put a k&n cone filter on it, and it'll work as good as aem. sounds too get a washable filter, btw

Which ever kind you get(generic or aem) you need to get a bypass valve. This will make it alot harder for water to get sucked up in to you engine and hydrolock it. I would imagine that you being in FL you get plenty of rain, hurricanes, crap like that so you will need it. The one nice thing about getting a name brand CAI is you have a certain level of quality that can't be assured in an ebay CAI. The downside to a Brand name Cai is the price( they tend to be high) but you can look on www.groupbuycenter.com for a good price.

+/- 7 hp....is that one of those turbo intakes? If you're lucky, you'll maybe get 1-2 hp...if you're lucky. You really won't feel anything, but it will make your car sound cooler

even though you wont feel anything, a true CAI will give you good gains... at least 10-12 hp on your sohc....(proven)

I doubt you'd even get 22 hp putting an intake on 350, let alone a 2.0L engine...I really don't believe that.
