Default Tune up, anyone have a guide?

Well guys I am going to replace my rotor and distributor cap, plugs, new air filter, and thats probably it. Does anyone have a guide to replacing the rotor/distributor cap? I looked in my Helms manual and there is no information about it in there.

Also, is there anything else I should think about replacing for a basic tune-up? It is a 99 with about 80,000 on it. The helms manual has a few recommendations, but should I replace stuff like the oil filter/etc?

Do your plug wires too. Maybe a valve adjustment.

One thing of advice I can give: The rotor is held on by a retaining screw. Take of the cap to see it. It may not be visible depending on where the rotor is turned. If it isn't visible, crank your car a couple of times with the cap off until you can see the screw. It will probably just take a couple to times. The screw is made of really soft metal and it is held in by loctite, so don't strip it. Make sure your screw driver (philips) head is the right size. My first time, I stripped the screw and couldn't remove the rotor. I basically had to break the rotor to get it off.

Of course, eventhough an oil change has to be done every 7.5K miles, it also falls into being part of a tune up!

Also, i know the fuel filter also gets replaced!!

I don't know about you but I change my oil every 3k.

Replace your fuel filter while you're at it if it hasn't been replaced. Might as well replaced your coolant too.

You don't need to hcange yoru oil for a good 5k. Might want to get a new pcv, run fuel injector cleaner, clean the throttle body, run SEAFOAM!
