fire those fuckers into a box, I have done about 15 suspension jobs on civics and have yet to use a spring compressor.

i would recommend using a spring compressor...

u could always do as lee(civic2scooby) says but there is some inherent danger with firing springs into a box like that. lee is a badass mofo though so he dont care what happens

If you were going from Neuspeed race springs to Eibach springs, would you still need a spring compressor? Until I go koni, I just got a temp solution to my blown struts with neuspeed race springs. (Came with the car)

sorry for the hijack.

this is for a teg but the procedure is basically the same http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1106020&page=1

you should use spring compressors, just borrow a set from autozone. I have seen where people have put a jack under the control arm, taken the nut off the shock and then slowly lowered the jack to take the pressure off.

I use spring compressor's when I do struts or shocks with coils in them. You don' t HAVE to use them, but it's a lot safer. Or you could just do what Lee does and shoot them into a box or moving car.

Get an impact gun, go outside and point it away from stuff, sit on the ground and put both feet on the top hat and knock the top nut off with the impact making sure you have a hand behind it too and a good grip. Mine hardly kicked.

i've compressed those springs and thrown them into a parking lot and they didn't do a whole lot of damage. So I started just firing them off into the tire. They'll move a tire about 2-3" when you do that. But also, autozone rents compressors for free. So I guess it's all about where you're located.
