Default Best place to get clutch put in?

Best place to get a new clutch put in? I've heard things about taking Hondas to only Honda mechanics, unless you are doing it yourself (the latter is not going to happen this time around - I looked at the DIY and although I've done maintenance stuff and a lift on my Jeep (civic suspension coming soon, I will try to tackle that) and such I've never touched a clutch job, and being in the midst of exams for med school - aint no way!!) so...

Use all Honda OEM parts and get dealer to do whole job (expensive but w/ warranty - but like that matters on a civic w/ 245K on it, and I drive at least 20K a year)

Get parts myself, (clutchcityonline, OEM replacements but w/ no warranty for Honda labor) and get Honda dealer to do it

Or get parts from clutchcityonline.com and just find any old mechanic to do it.

Cost? Dealer looks like it might be around $400 for labor, $300 for parts ($200 if I do it online). I skimped on a rebuilt M/C and it messed up, so I'm already hesitant to get "OEM-like" replacements...

What did yall do who were in a pinch and had to get someone to put the clutch in? Either way, this looks like a job that is going to eat up my tax refund thanks

i did a clutch on a 94 ex myself, it was my first time doing one, and i went step by step with the chilton, and i finished it in around 10 hrs. Could of went alot faster if i had help or knew what i was doing, but id tell u to go for it on ur own as long as u have the tools. Its not complicated so u could send it to any old mechanic.

if u wanna do it at the shop, they'll at least charge u $150 (tht is if u know the guy). clutch job is nothing new. except when u take the tanny out, u have to lift it, tht's the hardest part, and there's alot of nuts and bolts. which is really annoying. but installation is simple. just remember or write down how it is b4 u take it off. but if u wanna do it @ a shop, becareful where u go. cuz if the mechanic is not experience or if u go cheap, u'll suffer it later.

Yeah, I'd really love to try it but like I said there is no way I see myself finding a ten hour block of time to do this, being in the midst of med school and all. Usually I take a lot longer w/ first-time projects anyway, they end up taking longer than most people b/c I'm meticulous about following directions, and involve unexpected trips to the store or parts counter. I'm going to tackle the new suspension, no way I'm gonna have the time for the clutch. Maybe last year when I had my own spot and was working, but not now...

So yeah, looks like I should stay away from crap mechanics. I know its not a new job per se, but if you get the wrong guy working on it I guess he could mess it up...just heard a rumor about Hondas being particular about using Honda-parts, etc...Guess its down to getting the Honda guy to put in Honda parts or OEM-like parts...

thanks
