Default Honda Civic 97 EX/Sedan

Hi Peeps

I have got the Honda Civic 97 EX/sedan and was told by the Honda dealer that the Manifold is leaking and cracked due to rust. They are telling me that it will cost me $950 to fix that and replace it. I don't have much information about cars or how to boost up the power on it.
My question are:

1. What if I don't want to put the stock manifold back?
2. Could I get one of those after market manifolds that seem to add more power?
3. What kind of those aftermarket manifolds would be good? Company name etc.
4. Which ones would fit in my Honda?
5. Is it going to cost cheaper if I get the aftermarket part and have someone else who knows about cars hook it up for me?
6. What is the price-range usually for these products?

I would appreciate if someone could answer those for me asap.

1. go aftermarket
2. you could, but it wont add much power
3. get something cheap. megan for example. check ebay.
4. something designed for a 97 ex
5. swapping manifolds is a straight forward job requiring only basic hand tools. DIY and save.
6. $100-600

or go to a junkyward, get a replacement oem manifold, put it on yourself.

I checked the recommedation page I got from the Honda dealer. It says that "Exhaust Manifold Leaking (Cracked)." So is it the header that they are referring to as the "exhaust manifold". So I could purchase a header and it will replace this exhaust manifold thing right?

Let me know.

Thanks.

If you purchase a header for your car it would replace the exhaust manifold. You might get a few more horses out of it too, but not anything you would notice.
