97 honda dx question

Default 97 honda dx question

This is my first manual car and I have some questions. FOr now everythin is stock and whenever I shift I hardly feeel any toque and also when I am on the highway it feels so much weaker then my auto 95 honda accord ex T_T I was just wondering if this was normal. Thx

DX's don't have v-tec. That's most likely the torque you felt in your EX.

dx's are 1.5 or 1.6 non vtec i forget which but there not ment to be fast there ment for gas mileage so you can either swap out that motor and drop in a b,k,or h. or you can turbo that motor, non vtec motors do good with boost.

you have a crappy sohc non vtec. it's normal.

The DX motor is much smaller than the EX accord motor (1.5L vs 2.2). That is the reason you feel a difference in torque...

VTEC does nothing more than extend the torque curve... It does not add any torque, beyond the couple of lb-ft gained in the ability of the motor to breathe better.

This is normal, your DX has a D16Y7. It's a 1.6 liter SOHC non- vtec dream. Be happy with your 35mpg.
