Hey guys, I ran my 99 civic ex low on oil and threw a bearing. I am going to replace(or turn) the crank and get a new set of bearings and most likely rods. Do I have to pull the engine to do all of this??
pulling the engine makes everything a whole lot easier when you have to measure rod and main bearing clearances. i would never reuse a crank that spun a bearing.
When I start disassembling everything how do I know where everything goes when I reassemble it??
It is stated in the Honda repair manual, and the Haynes I have, that the engine MUST be removed from the car in order to remove the crankshaft...
Besides, even if it could be done it would be extremely difficult... If not impossible...
You need a garage, an engine stand, and a cherry picker to do the work.
Don't know how else you could pull the motor safely without a cherry picker?
And don't re-use the crankshaft, get a used one for cheap...
But, honestly, if you are asking questions like "When I start disassembling everything how do I know where everything goes when I reassemble it??"
Maybe you should not be doing your own work...

if this is stumping you when it comes time to measure bearings you'll want to kill yourself. grab yourself a helms manual and read it BEFORE doing anything.
axels, fuel lines, air intake, all wires, the mounts...another thing* to add is that if you have a hoist it's easier to drop the motor out the botom of the car
