Default car won't start

hey, i tried starting my car today after it was sitting for a few hours and it would not start. the car was turning over but it wouldnt start. could it be that there isnt any gas getting to the engine. when i push the gas pedal, it feels as if it doesnt have much pressure. what can i do to get it to start? thanks

turn the key to the on position, and listen under your back seat for a priming sound from the fuel pump.

is the priming sound like a humming sound that cuts off after a few seconds? after going back today i tried to start it again and this time it sounds weaker, and the lights on the dash go dim and the battery light flashes. could it be that i just need a jump?

yea the humming noise is the priming, it sounds like your battery does not have eenough juice or your altenator is bad..

It sounds more like a charging system problem being that the battery light came on. If it is your alternator, then most likely your battery has been drained. When you tried to get a boost did you leave the cables on for a couple of minutes with the other car running before you tried to start your own car to charge your battery a bit? Also check for corrosion around the battery terminals. You'll want to clean it off if there is alot of it.

If the lights are dimming it can only be the alternator. Go to Autozone or Strauss, they'll check your battery and alternator for free.
