Default 99 Civic EX

I was driving my EX last night and my engine started a loud ticking noise. Before this happened, I noticed my oil light coming on when I would take corners. It would only tick when it would go 3k+ RPMs and it is louder than my engine. So I went home, let the engine settle down and the next morning I got up and checked the oil, the stick was bone dry. So I put two quarts of 5w-30 Valvoline. I drove it a couple of miles and the ticking got softer but its still there. I am do for a new oil change its been about 3k miles since the last one.

Can anyone help me??

Sounds like you may have damaged your engine. The oil light should never be taken lightly always pull over and shut it off.You probably need rod bearings or if you are lucky a valve adjust.Do a search on valve adjust.

Jeez, another one!!!

Man this is getting to be a regular post for me, LOL...

Basically you cooked your engine, cause you let it run without oil... Bearings need lubrication, without it the friction would heat the material up and can score and ruin the crankshaft...

I said it before, and I'll say it again. Oil light = NO oil pressure = Dead engine

You will need alot more than just an oil change, try a whole engine dis-assembly and re-build... Prob better off getting another used engine and not being so careless...

Or you could just drive with that motor, and make sure to check the oil like every other day... That is if the ticking is not too loud or annoying... But you will need to spend lots of $$$ to get it to run like new again, if ever...

I was told it most likely has a stuck lifter. I'm going to try to put lucas oil into it and see what happens.
