b20 vtec Franky is scary?
I have a b16a first gen OBD1 and I'm planning to do block upgrade which is b20b block. Do franky motor is safe? and what kind of headache that might happen? please help me to decide what to do with my engine.. all suggestion are welcome..
properly built and maintained a b20vtec is as reliable as the next engine. slapping a vtec head on a stock b20 block and revving to 8k+ is a recipe for a blown motor.
if you have to ask this question, you need lots more research.

my brother built his CRVtec in his 00 Si from the ground up.
b20b bottom block rebuilt with jg pistons 12:1 comp ratio
CTR head with mild port polish
skunk 2 pro series valve train
skunk 2 pro series stage 2 cams
skunk 2 pro series intake manifold
aem fuel rail with regulator and autolink gauge
aem v2 cold air intake
jdm 4-1 header
omni test pipe
rsr exmag catback
rc injectors
00 ITR transmission
exedy stage 1 clutch
jun flywheel
endyne oil catch tank
obd2 to obd1 conversion with p28
hondata s200
tuned by Casey from Modacar in livermore,
put out 232whp, 138tq. he has put over 8,000 miles on it daily driven. its a great car to drive and vtec screams so loud.

i got the real numbers, its 232whp 148tq. not everyone wants a turbo. it was a fun N/A build and most of the parts were heavily discounted, and the labor was free. i had several friends who own turbo cars, ie mr2, rx7, 300zx, drove the car and they love the car's throttle response and power despite if numbers are not good enough for you.
my brother likes n/a setups, so hence the build. so im sorry if the numbers are not good enough for you with those mods. the car has only been tuned once and he never went back and got it retuned with the new manifold. the car is returning back to stock now, the motor is gonna be resting in the garage for now until he finds a shell to put it in for a full out race car.

yea it is, and im sure it can be tuned better. there were several mods added in after it was tuned. barely got it to run right on 91. doesnt matter anymore, the motor is gonna get pulled in the next week or so. when it finds its final resting shell, it will be retuned and ill post the results up.
