i just picked up a jdm k20(basic model) with 5spd tranny for 1000 bucks cdn
cause i just couldnt refuse the deal
but i just checked up the forums and people are saying that a b18b swap would have been a better idea cuase its much cheaper
and that after buying the k20 u still need to spend about like 3-4 k on parts?

why is it so expensive
what are those parts that are so crucial that would require 4 times the amount of money i jsut spent for the engine and tranny?

 

what car is it goin into?

engine mounts for one, gotta get custom ones, like hasport mounts, then you gotta get the shift linkage working, wiring, gotta get the exhaust to match, i dont know if it'll cost 3-4k to get it in, but it'll cost more then just getting a b motor in a pre-2001 civics

 

when you say base model, you mean, the regular rsx/civic si K20 right? :thinking:

Not worth it IMHO but goodluck with the swap though

As the other guy stated sell that K for 1500 & drop in either a 2 gen B16 or a Gsr motor & call it a day. The other route you can go is H22, Ls Vtec or B20 bottom w/ a B16 head. Do it right when you're ready.

 

why you suggesting the i chop it back out?
so i paid 1000 bucks for the engine, and how much more will i need to put the engine in
and sayif i went with the gsr whats the price difference between the two?
and engine potential wise whats the biggest difference?
