Default Dealer Cost

Does anyone KNOW what percent the markup is on geniue Honda accessories? In other words how much does it actually cost the dealer for the spoiler. I remember seeing a post a couple of years ago, it was about 45 percent. I am looking to get an 2002 EX monday, talked to dealer today about some numbers pretty sure he lied.

Please help and THANKS!

I don't know if this will help, but when I was calling around for my front lip, dealerships were consistantly giving me a price of $125, yet I got in online shipped for a little over $80. Since these internet companies are still in business, they must be making some profit, so that means the honda dealership mark up is pretty damn huge. I got an OEM spoiler for my car, that dealers were charging $350-$400s for for $175. Again, the place I got it from had to be making a profit (or else they wouldn't sell it). I don't know exactly how much they can get the parts for, but they absolutely kill you on it...figure out percentages on your own. Their mark-up is worse on some things than others too. As bad as it is for certain accessories, if god forbid you ever break something, forget about it. I had to buy a plastic body clip for my mom's teg, and got charged $3 a piece for them. Someone else had to buy some bolt for his window assembly and it cost him a cool $12. Each of these pieces probably costs honda about $0.05, yet they still charge what they do. Chances are the dealer lied to you...they all lie...thats what they do for a living. Pretty much, don't believe anything out of their mouths, and always know that they are ripping you off, not matter what you buy...thats how they make their living.

You're right. Most people (like for example any of our mom's) would go into the dealer and say "I need _____ . Oh, ok, its only $200, do you take visa?" I guess most of us around here are biased because we know what we're talking about for the most part and know how much of a better deal you can get if you shop around online.

there are a number of sites on the net that you can get OEM honda stuff for 30%-50% less than what you'd get at the dealership though. Thats how I got my lip and my spoiler.
