No, you can put an obd2 motor, but then you have to convert the whole evap system to obd2 if the car is obd1. And also you can't convert and obd2 motor to obd1, thats what i heard. Well I'll go with the gsr longblock, and put my ITR head internals into the gsr head, i'll do arp head and rod bolts too... I think it'll be pretty sweet. Also is there a way to use my ITR throttle body on a gsr manifold??

Out here in utah if the car is obd2 and you put a obd1 ecu in it then it wont pass. So i would imagine that when they go to hook it up to the machine that if it is supposed to be obd1 and you have obd 2 ecu in it then that wont work. This is what i would do. Leave the car obd1, get whatever longblock you decide to get. They sell obd1 b18's and obd1 b16's. If you get one and its not then just change the intake mani with sensors and the dizzy to obd1.

Here in cali they are hella strict... I'm getting an obd1 gsr longblock, I was gonna use the type r head I have but, they might check the head and see its supposed to be obd2 and then they'll bitch about it. I'll just use the type r cams and valve train on the gsr head.

Yes very good idea. I dont think they would check to see if the head is the correct one though. I would use the tyoe r head though.
