Default Repair Shop Horror Stories

I did a quick search to see if anyone else started a thread like this. So excuse me if there is, I just didn’t see it.

Lately my car has been idling wrong, it would bog down between 2k rpm and 3k rpm range and I couldn’t figure it out. I had just put on the CAI and exhaust and this fawking expensive (read $750) alternator. I had gone to this local repair shop to do a normal tune up and that’s when all the problems started. They replaces plugs, wires, timing belts fuel filter and ran all these tests to figure out what was wrong. It took them 12 hours of work to figure out that it was either the ECU of the fuel pump going out. They were "willing" to fix these for $600 on top of the $450 I owed them for figuring out the problem. I paid $200 out of the $450 and never went out. I changed the fuel pump AND the ecu myself and it still didn’t fix the problem. I just recently broke the alternator so I went to another car shop for them to remove it. That car shop said the car was misfiring and said I might need to replace plugs and wires. So I just got done replaces the plugs and wires and now it runs like it should. Afterwards I was looking at the old plugs and wires and they all had this jelly type substance on them. I completely blame the first repair shop for all the trouble they have made for me.
Moral of the story is don’t trust fat guys and say they know about imports AND always start with the easiest fixes first.

Everyone is welcome to reply with their own horror stories, and please do. So I don’t feel like an idiot for trusting them
