Default SRS Light question

My daily driver (95 Civic DX auto) was stolen a few months back and in the process of them stealing it they managed to break the steering lock. I bought a new one and installed it. Once the installation was finished, a test drive to Mcdonalds was underway, and realized the turning signals didn't work and the SRS light was on.:wtf: So I have a few questions...

What exactly is SRS?
Has anyone run into a similar problem?
Could I have missed a plug while putting it back together?

Any other information is greatly appreciated

I don't think the airbags will deploy with the SRS light is on, that means there must be some kind of code also. SRS stands for Supplemental Restraint System. The motherfawkers must have damaged the whole multi-switch system on the steering colomn when they broke the lock. That could be a contibuting factor as to why your turn signals don't work and your SRS light being on.

PS - Multi-switch system being your turn signal lever and the windshield wiper lever.

Wouldn't that disable the windshield wipers also? They still work and my Head lights work also. But I just had an epiphany. I drove it without having the SRS wires connected so I'm gonna try to disconnect the battery and reconnect to see if it has something to do with the ECU.

I didn't think about that. You could be right though. I would try disconnecting the battery and see what happens from there.
