i don't think it is any more cheating than turbo or a blower or even a strong N/A build.. i mean it all comes down to beign honest when you set up races.... if you line up against me it will be VERY obvious its juiced... if you still choose to run than its your choice.. but when it comes to street racing.. all bets are off.. that is part of the game... picking good races is the hardest part.. its like a poker game and that is part of the fun.. especialy if it is for cash... showing your full hand would make it boring....... so you hold out a little... and "run what you brung"

MY petty thoughts about nitrous:: not the truth, just my thoughts

not worth it,

1) even though its like, at least 50 hp for only 500 bucks, it doesnt end there, you have to constantly refill that bottle (like an extra gas tank to fill) h:

2) its not always on. its not somehtin that you could just, at any moment, punch the gas and get a buzz, gotta flip a switch and open the bottle i think . . .kinda takes away from those impulse moments

3) i like na cars better

i personaly like turbo cars best.. but i lack the funds all at once to get it.. its not always on.. but with the flick of two switches it is armed and open (with a remote bottle opener)

i appreciate this not turning into some ghey thread... i mean i really just want to hear what people think about it..

constantly refill the bottle is dependant on use.. a bottle last quite some time..

My first reaction is that it's like cheating. I suppose I feel this way because you can slap a hefty shot of nitrous on any car, and it will be fast. No work, no tuning needed. Maybe it's just jealousy because here I am putting all this work in my car than I get pullled on by a one cammer jammer EX.

Then again, when I loose to a nitrous equiped car, I don't snap "aw..it's cuz he was spraying"...a loss is a loss in my book.

In all honesty, I don't mind it. I respect those who use it, best bang for your buck as far as power goes. It doesn't appeal to me just due to the inconsistency and I think how easy it is for things to go wrong on NOS. But then again, that's silly because I have problems N/A, and tons of stuff can go wrong with a turbo or blower...

So, I don't mind it, just not on my car.

My buddy has a NOS'd Legend, he goes through a couple bottles a month. He's an addict.

Well there was a Maxima a while back that had it's entire rear end taken off (as well as a good part of the garage it was in) when a bottle exploded in the trunk. That's a bad example. I personally would only do it after I have done just about everything else. It's not any more harmful to your engine than say a turbo if the car is set up right for it. It is the best bang for the buck and you can keep your 30+MPG too. My cousin has a 75 shot on his RSX and I still spank his ass so it won't make a slow car fast, just faster than it was. and if you really wanted too you could leave it armed and the bottle on at all times. To fill my cousins tank it costs $25.00. For me, after seeing the pics of that Maxima, I decided I don't want that bottle sitting behind me if I get rear ended or if the lines develope a leak and I flick my smoke teh wrong way you know what I mean?

This is what happened when he left the bottle heater on by accident. By the safety valve did not blow when it wa supposed to either so it was not really his fault just a down side to nitrous.

they had an NX kit.. with an NX heater... the NX heater relies on pressure to turn itself on and off... to read pressure the bottle must be open, so in theory if you leave the bottle close and the heater on.. this IS the end result... these people are also obvioulsy idiots.. as more care should be given to suck a delicate thing... its not a set of fog lights, and must be shut down properly... i use an NOS heater.. it turns itself off and on by bottle tempurature not by pressure.. making it pretty imposible to OVER heat the bottle...

misconception 1... nitrous is NOT flamable... it is an oxidizer that enhances the burning rate of fuel, it CAN explode in a car fire... but so can a completely sealed canaster of water in your car in a fire... my bottle carries a DOT approval number and i recieved a FREE permit from the state of NJ saying it was legal for me to posess nitrous oxide transport it, and use it in my vehicle (can scan and post... lol) its pretty cool

you say you beat him so it will not make a slow car fast... by your signature you drive two relatively fast cars... so you are kinda comparing apples to oranges... a BUILT car with a primary power adder of nitrous can be just as effective as a built car with a primary power adder of say a blower... it is all relative to the cars in discusion...

:ahem: I think you know my standpoint , but here goes:

I was very, very close to getting nitrous. I had the gauges, some hardware, the knowledge ... all I needed was the kit. Fortunately, I waited a little longer and then I got turbo. Turbo is good.

I consider nitrous to be liquidturbo/poor man's turbo. Nitrous hits good, and I actually love it. Two of the guys in my crew run nitrous.

Why is everyone so concerned about FAIRNESS? Nitrous is cheating?! I don't think so, that's what the crybabies say. Crybabies need an excuse when they lose. When it comes down to it, losing is losing, take it like a man and quit with the 3rd grader excuses.

Do you see me asking the Mustang/Camaro guys to unplug four of their spark plug wires because it's not fair?

"It's not fair. Boo fugging hoo." Nitrous/turbo/supercharger = same $hit
