Newly Aquired 97 EX
I just bought my fiance a 97 Civic EX sedan and shes begging me for some mods. Im not sure the D16Y8 is worth modifying or if I should just find some B series to drop in. I am closing a deal on an H22 to put in my teg but her Civic is an auto so I guess the D16 thats in it is the best bet at least for now. So what are the differences between the D and B series? Is it as good of a performer as the B16? Its a quick little car for being totally stock and thank God we found an EX that at least has VTEC and a sunroof
I just ordered her the AEM CAI in blue steel... Hopefully she'll be able to hear VTEC loud and clear with the CAI.

D series is single overhead cam(sohc) and b series is dual overhead cam(dohc). B series makes more horse power but is weak in torque. If its an automatice u should get her a tranny swap and the cai should help with vtec.
She cant drive stick. Trust me Ive tried and I think I may need new motor mounts after trying to teach her on the GSR
So the sedans are D series and the coupes are B series?

you should stick with the engine you have now. becouse if she cant drive a stick, than she wont probally wont even know or care what engine is in her car....she probally wants the sound, so she could think that its a fast car.
