Ive got a 2000 honda civic ex with the d16y8 sohc vtec motor and im lookin for alot more power. Id like to do a swap but im not sure which engine would be best. i know i wanna go turbo, but im looking for some more honda-experienced people's opinion of the best honda motor for my car as far as max hp and torque and ability to handle turbo. any input is greatly appreciated

swap in the bar007 honda v10 engine and slap a turbo w/ jdm front mount intercooler on it and you should be good to go for max hp and tq.

post ur budget first man.. cuz u gots a lot of choices for motor swaps and turbos set ups.

 

there are a gazillion billion million choices of engines and transmission choices.. and how much custom fab you want to do you could do awd or rwd or fwd.. transmission choices.. single turbo, sequential twin turbos, intercooler mounting, I4, V6, HP:Weight goals, drivability in snow/rain, and MILLIONS of other factors. no two people are going to want the same exact setup.

if your looking for crazy HP, then it really dont matter what you choose outside of the series engine since you would be replacing everything internally anyways. i have seen 500+hp on A-series, B-series, H-series, K-series, F-series engines so its not like its not possible on them. some people like different torque curves or different transmission choices for different engine series (then again if money aint a problem you can make custom gearing anyways). a book could be written about swapping engines. ...oh, wait, there have been MANY books written.

YOU need to do some RESEARCH and refine your questions.

not to mention there are trillions of threads on every honda forum out there covering this topic..

and.. if you have to ask, you probably are not nearly ready/prepared to do a swap anyways.

 

i dont really have a budget if thats what you wanna call it. i just kinda do some research, find something that sounds like a good idea and i buy it. thats what i mean buy moneys not a problem. if i cant afford it i just save like anyone else. im not looking to have a 15 second car today and a 10 second car tomorrow. im just looking for ideas on what would be the best way to go with this car. i could probably afford something faster and better than what ive got. but i love hondas and i love this car and im just trying to find out some more about the possibilities i have

 

im not gonna argue that comment...im nowhere near ready to swap an engine in this car or any car for that matter... im just looking for information so that maybe one day i will be ready.... if i never asked any questions, id be a idiot to the subject forever
