Default When is it time for new spark plug wires?

When would you guys recommend replacing your ignition wire set? This is for a 1998 honda civic lx 4 dr with 109,00 miles on it. i dont know if they have ever been replaced but they would almost have to be right? Do they last that long.? Im not having any trouble with car but am doing preventative maitenence right now. leave feedback.

I don't know about the wires but ur spark plugs should have been replace at 90k miles and need to be replaced at 120k miles, but if your wires have never been replaced its probably time

Since I can't figure out how to check mine with a meter and I have no problems, I still have the original - 92 lx 352,000.

With that track record, when I get my replacement "new" car with a regasketed motor running, I will buy new OEM, just because I will probably will not have to buy them again.

Some feedback about parts stores wires- out of the 5 Civics I've purchased recently, all of them had replacement wires. Compared to stock design with the boots etc, they suck!

I recommend changing the spark plugs every 30,000 (or 2 years) and maybe wires every 50,000 miles (or every 3-4 years).

They are cheap and help with car performance.

That's a little extreme.

If you're not sure about it, then I'd recommend changing them out anyways. They aren't that expensive (NGK blues should be less than $60USD) and while you're at it, might as well change out your plugs as well (NGK coppers).

Better safe than sorry and it's one less thing to worry about on your car.
