Default Shift Linkage Not Right?

Ok I just swapped in my old b16a that I had in my 93 coupe that I wrecked along with the tranny. Built the engine, etc. nd got everything hooked up nd running right. I bought a 94-01 teg 92-00 avid shift linkage for b series saps from NOPIonline.com and when we installed the shifter didn't sit right at all. 2nd sits almost wear nuetral is suppose to be and it acts as if the shift linkage isn't long enough......which in my case, it takes 30 minutes to get it into 1st, 3rd, and 5th gear. 2nd and 4th gear work perfect, its just the top gears it doesn't want to go into to. I was thinking that the shift linkage isn't long enough for some odd reason, but....there is that slight chance the tranny was damaged in my wreck, but wouldn't that only damage the gear it was in? and if it damaged more wouldn't i have SOME trouble with 2nd and 4th? it will go into 5th but after about 45 seconds to a minute it kicks it out. Anybody have any ideas? Could the shift linkage be upside down? Any help would be AWESOME!!!

I would just try and find an OEM linkage (maybe you could even borrow one?) and see if that works. If the OEM one doesn't work, then you've got problems. If the tranny looks undamaged, my only thought is that maybe the motor mounts got bent up in the accident.

the tranny does look undamaged and thats why i thought maybe it was the shift linkage and we used different mounts than the ones that were on the car in the wreck so cant be that either....so i guess i'mma have to barrow my buddies LS shift linkage and see if that will work...anybody else have some input on this?

did you put the shifter itself on backwards? I accidentally did that once and all the gears were relocated closer to the dash, but they still worked.

Yup.. My second, fourth and reverse sits where the nuetral sits when the SOHC engine was in. It's so hard just to get into first third and fifth.. and usually i scrach the gears.. so i just quit using it. I'm not running the car now til i send AVID the pics i took.. so they can figure it out.. They asked me if i used the busing kit for the shift lever.. which i did.. and notified them.. so then they asked me to take pictures and email them.. which i'll do today..and i'll post them here later..

Nope.. didn't put the shifter backwards.. I thought the same thing.. but it's in right.. Tried it..and it was worst...

I called them.. then they told me to email them pictures of what i was talking about.. I feel the same way.. I didn't pay 150 for my linkage just to go out and have to purchase a new set from Honda..
