Rewire ECU from auto to manual
With the B18C swap, can i just use a newer OBD2 GSR ecu so i dont have to chip my auto one to tell the car that its manual now? With the GSR ecu do i need to wire the IAB and the O2 knock sensor or not, and will that work without other wiring just using the USDM gsr ecu and plug it in, and maybe use a USDM gsr engine harness too, so it all lines up correctly? or would it be better to just rewire my harness? Can i just use everthing from like a rear ended gsr (i might buy shift linkage from hasport, along with the auto to manual mount) like shifter, slave cylinder, master cylinder, etc? Also, how do i eliminate the neutral saftey switch, and wire the clutch pedal switch? Thanks in advance.
A 99 ex, ive been researching the B18C for a few months, but then just recently thought about the B18C1 because the wiring seems to be somewhat easier, but then an idea came across my mind that i could just use a USDM GSR harness and ecu for the right year, and not have to deal with a OBD2b to OBD2a conversion harness if i dont get a 99-01, and plus it will already be wired for the manual, and i just think that would be much easier. Plus i wont have to add wires in my harness, or chip my ecu so i just think thats going to save me a headache. Would that work though, couldnt i just call a junkyard or drive over to one and ask for a tegs harness and ecu? Also, can i use the JDM's shift linkage, or will it not be long enough, because i could always just order one from hasport, as i have been looking for the auto to manual mount too.
You could use a 99-00 civic si harness and ecu. You could get the harness from a ob2 teg and a ecu from a ob2b teg. I have a pt2 ecu from a 99' si. Yo ucan check your junkyards but i doubt that they will have one. Around here in salt lake the junkyards are getting smart and putting a very high price on stuff like that. When a totalled gsr comesin they pull motor, trans, harness, ecu, and axles to sale as a swap. I need the ecu from it and they told me no. Ebay would be your best bet or here in the for sale section. Let me know if you want my ecu. Plus if you want it to pass smog then you need the ob2b ecu.
So what your saying is that i could use a 99-00 civic manual harness and ecu and it would work perfectly, or i could use a harness from either an obd2a or an obd2b teg, and use the ecu from an obd2b teg, and it would work perfectly? Im not going to have to add any wires either way or manage to screw up the wiring as i probably would with changing around my harness for the JDM engine? How much do you want for the ecu, and you dont happen to have a harness just laying around do you? I dont need to pass smog, i dont think michigan gives a shit about that, but is the pt2 obd2a or obd2b? Will it still work even if say i have an obd2a harness and an obd2b ecu, both from an si? Im just wondering if i have to do any extra work if using the harness and ecu from a different car (si harness/ecu with gsr motor). Should the JDM shift linkage fit well also? And i do really need to weld a sheet metal mount for the manual shifter? And is it true that i can use the parts i need (pedals, shifter, MC, Slave C, hydraulic line from MC to Slave C, etc) from any civic or integra?
