VTEC'ing my LS engine in my Civic
I have a 92 civic Hatch and I have already done the LS swap in it. The engine has 90k on it and runs great! I have been thinking about getting it Vtec'd but of course I def wouldnt do it myself as Im not to good with engines. What parts will I need to do the swap? About how much will all the parts cost me? and wats the best route to go for the semi least money??? Or should I go the route of finding a prebuilt LS/Vtec??? :confused:Thanks....your guys help would be great!:D

you just need to add the vtec wires and add a vtec head
|
Get a B16A head
Golden Eagle VTEC conversion kit (oil lines/adapter/headgasket) P28 ECU and find somebody who has built this conversion before. |
how much would all that run for about???
|
Just remember to find someone good to do it. It's not just a simple head slap on. But as stated before make sure you get all the parts for the oil lines, etc. There is a little more machine work to get that head on the ls.

what about the crank does that need to be balanced or can you rev it past 8 grand stock and be ok?
|
good question....cuz I have heard that you shouldnt rev it pas 8k if u dont do anything to it...the block stock cant handle it suposedly....ugg...soo many dang choices for this motor! lol
|
if you want to rev to 8k you'll need to get arp rod bolts. higher than 8k you'll want to think about getting the crank balanced, adding a girdle, and stepping up to forged rods.

fun stuff....cant wait for the extra HP tho....u guys recommend any other roads besides goin vtech?
|
It's Vtec...
And a Turbo B18B is killer... BTW the HP gain by going LS/Vtec is somewhat minimal and you do lose a bit of torque... Just something to thing about... but good luck on the build :) |
