Default idle issue

so its been an interesting day today, I went to try to start my 92 civic si and it wouldnt start. It sounded like it wanted to but it wouldnt fire. So I changed the fuel filter and that seemed to help (my engine started). and then it died again. So I tore out my back seats and replaced the fuel pump. That helped too. Now its starts, but the idle now seems really low. Before when it started it would idle up to about 2000 and drop down to about 1200. Now its just barely idleing at about 300? What is supposed to be the ideal idle rate for a civic si? It doesnt die, but its just barely there...

I think 1200 is about right... Try messing with the fast idle screw on the throttle body...

You could also try and adjust the throttle cable to hold it open a tad more at idle...

Don't open up the throttle cable a little more, that is the jerry rig version. Use the idle adjsut screw on the TB. At alst resort you can do the throttle open, Also you way want to either clean or change your IACV.

The IACV is on the back of the intake manifold, it should be secured with 2 bolts, there is a electrical plug that plugs into it.

Its supposed to hold it open a very small bit anyways (a reasonable amount of tension)... It might have slipped loose... And he said he already adjusted the idle screw I already suggested that... The fact that it wouldnt start, and then it would when he changed things leads me to believe its not related to an IACV problem...

No, it's not. The throttle cable should have a touch of slack. There should be an adjusting set-screw to set the initial gap of the throttle plate. If the cable is so tight as to keep the throttle butterfly open, the accelerator pedal will be overly sensitive.

Anyway, you should see a 750-800RPM idle at all times.

Seeing as this is a 92+ thread, off to Civic/del Sol/EL with you!

Your right.... Again... h: Had too look it up in the manual... Says 10-12mm of slack for the throttle cable...
